Peter Navario

Peter was born in 1974 and grew up in Connecticut with his parents and two younger sisters. After graduating from high school, Peter attended Lehigh University where he studied Psychology and French. He spent his third year of university studying French literature at La Sorbonne at the University of Paris. After graduating from Lehigh in 1996, Peter moved back to France to teach English in the french public school system in Toulon. Following a year of teaching in France, Peter took a job coordinating committees and writing clinical trials for the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group (PACTG) of the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD. While at the PACTG, Peter was offered a position as Project Manager at a small international AIDS non-profit organization to establish an HIV/AIDS education project in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland.

Peter's experience at the PACTG and as project manager in southern Africa solidified his interest in international public health, and he decided to pursue a master’s degree in public health at Yale. While at Yale, Peter has focused on global health policy and specifically HIV/AIDS and global governance. He spent the summer of 2002 in Romania conducting research on pediatric HIV, and conducting a cost-analysis of preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

Peter has always had an interest in travel and different cultures. He spent two weeks in Egypt in 2001, and has since had a desire to return to the Middle East and visit other countries in the region. He is very excited to have an opportunity to visit Saudi Arabia and experience another culture.
